Beyond Pink: Lifting Up Local Expertise - 8:30a-4:00p
Beyond Pink 5 is a one-day summit and training for girl*-serving advocates and professionals working in systems including schools, youth development, child welfare, juvenile justice, health, mental health and housing.
There are two tracks: Training and Advocacy, that will help you create supportive environments, policies and practices. This year, the Training track will build upon your knowledge of girl-centered practices and teach practical skills that you can bring back to your agency. The Advocacy track will be a working meeting to drive momentum on legislative policy priorities for the upcoming session.
In addition to training, there will be roundtable discussions lead by subject matter experts on topics such as Developing Girl-centered Service Models, Ending Detention for Status Offenses and Youth Homelessness. Keynote by writer, musician, artist, and social justice activist, Shontina Vernon. Lunch provided.
Beyond Happy Hour - 5:00p-7:00p
Please also join us for our inaugural Beyond Happy Hour. At this event you will have more time to continue your engagement and advocacy conversations while supporting the Coalition mission. We will also present Gender Justice Champion Awards to state Senator Jeannie Darneille and Representative Noel Frame for their steadfast policy advocacy to improve the landscape for WA state girls. Light hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. Ages 21+ only.
